In the Chair (Mimane Edition): Quick Questions, Real Routines, and One Hair Rule We'll Never Break
Think of this like you're sitting in the chair — no long lectures, no overcomplicated advice. Just the questions we hear all the time, the routines we actually use, and the one rule that makes everything work better.
Quick Questions
What's the simplest routine that still makes a difference?
A three-step wash day you can repeat:
- Cleanse with the Nourish & Strengthen Shampoo — scalp-first
- Condition with the Nourish & Strengthen Conditioner — mid-length to ends
- Support with the Growth & Strengthen Hair Oil — pre-wash or ends-only
Simple routines win because you'll actually do them again.
How often should I wash my hair?
There's no perfect number. Wash based on your scalp and lifestyle.
A good baseline:
- Scalp gets oily fast → wash more consistently
- Scalp runs dry → space it out a bit more
- Using dry shampoo or styling products → plan for a more thorough cleanse
The goal isn't "wash less." It's wash well.
Do I need to oil my scalp?
Not always.
Start with ends and mid-lengths first. If your scalp feels dry or tight, add a light scalp oiling pre-wash. If your scalp gets oily easily, keep the Growth & Strengthen Hair Oil mostly on the lengths.
Scalp oiling is a ritual, not a requirement.
Why does my hair feel good in the shower but dry after?
Usually one of these:
- You scrubbed shampoo through the lengths
- You rinsed conditioner too quickly
- Your water is very hot
- You detangled too aggressively
Most "dry after wash" fixes are technique, not new products.
What's the fastest way to reduce frizz?
Two things:
- Condition correctly — enough time and proper placement
- Finish with a small amount of oil on ends only
With the dropper, the key is micro-presses and palm-first application.
I'm scared oil will make me greasy — how do I avoid that?
- Never full-squeeze the dropper for styling
- Dispense into your palm first
- Apply to ends first, then the outer layer
- Avoid the roots post-style
- Wait 60 seconds before adding more
Most "greasy" moments are just too much, too fast.
Real Routines
Routine 1: The "clean + soft" wash day (most common)
- Shampoo scalp-first — 60 seconds
- Condition mid-length to ends — leave 1–3 minutes
- Detangle ends-first
- Rinse well
Routine 2: The "reset" wash day (dry shampoo / buildup)
- Shampoo scalp-first
- Rinse
- Shampoo scalp-first again
- Condition mid-length to ends — leave 3–5 minutes
Routine 3: The "shine + slip" wash day (pre-wash oil)
- Growth & Strengthen Hair Oil on lengths — 15–60 minutes pre-shower
- Shampoo scalp-first (double cleanse if needed)
- Condition and detangle
Routine 4: The "glow finish" after styling
- ¼–½ micro-press into palms
- Ends first
- Outer layer only
- Hands nowhere near the roots
The One Hair Rule We'll Never Break
Treat the scalp and the lengths like two different worlds. Because they are.
Your scalp needs cleansing and balance. Your lengths and ends need softness, protection, and low friction.
When people wash and condition "all over" the same way, they usually end up with oily roots and dry ends, buildup and frizz, tangles and breakage.
When you separate the approach, everything gets easier.
Scalp-first cleanse. Ends-first seal. That's the Mimane rule — and we don't break it.
